MTV VMAs 2014 nominations announced: Beyonce leads pack with eight nominations

The nominations for for the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards were announced Thursday morning and Mrs. Carter leads the field with eight nods — including Video of the Year for her collaboration with husband Jay Z, “Drunk in Love.
” Rapper Eminem was close behind, notching seven nominations, as did newcomer Iggy Azalea, who will be vying against Beyonce for Video of the Year with her hit, “Fancy.
” Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball,” Sia’s “Chandelier” and Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” round out the nominees for the award show’s marquee trophy. MTV continued its trend of using social media to unveil its nominations, this time posting Thursday’s announcement on the music network’s Snapchat account. Fans can vote for the winners starting today at vma.mtv.com.
